Positive: We spent wonderful days at Pemimpi. It is a truly special place for travellers who are seeking peace and want to explore the essence of the island. Here, you have the rare opportunity to experience the people of Sumba up close – their relationship with nature, plants and animals as well as with tradition, culture, and craftsmanship – far away from event-driven tourism and its secluded resorts, which offer comfort everywhere in the world but ultimately provide polished yet completely interchangeable photo backdrops. Through Thomas, we learned so much about Sumba, as he built the camp from the very beginning in close, respectful collaboration with the local village community. Thomas and his Sumbanese team fulfilled every wish at any time of day and took wonderful care of us throughout our stay. The glamping tents are very spacious and impeccably clean, the magnificent, seemingly endless beach is just a short walk away, and the entire place feels personal, warm, and deeply nourishing – a place to dream and to reconnect with oneself, at the same time full of adventures.
